We are a small group of Christians who are very alarmed by the number of college students who leave their faith during their college years.

It is well documented that all across America a high percentage (about 75%) of Christian youth depart from their faith during their college years. This tragic event is completely unnecessary.

The experts say there are many reasons for this occurring.  There are are also the challenges presented by hostile, secular college professors who proselytize for their (lack of) faith, an environment fraught with temptations, etc.

However, the main driver of this event (known as the “Great Departure”) is that young Christians leaving home often do not know why they believe what they believe. They do not know why Christianity is true and they have unanswered questions. This lack of teaching is contrary to clear teaching in scripture and makes these students extremely vulnerable to the above influences. As JP Moreland says, “It’s like shooting fish in a barrel.” This is not acceptable.

Our goal is to make resources available to answer students’ questions, which includes answering questions they may not have thought of yet. We also maintain a lending library, provide teaching on relevant topics, provide speakers for campus events, and meet with individual students.

Although our concern is for the students, our primary focus is to serve the hard working ministers and their staffs on the campus of Appalachian State University.
